\"Woe unto the man,\" says Simeon ben Yohai, \"who asserts that this Torah intends to relate only commonplace things and secular narratives; for if this were so, then in the present times likewise a Torah might be written with more attractive narratives. In truth, however, the matter is thus: The upper world and the lower are established upon one and the same principle; in the lower world is Israel, in the upper world are the angels. When the angels wish to descend to the lower world, they have to don earthly garments. If this be true of the angels, how much more so of the Torah, for whose sake, indeed, the world and the angels were alike created and exist. The world could simply not have endured to look upon it. Now the narratives of the Torah are its garments. He who thinks that these garments are the Torah itself deserves to perish and have no share in the world to come. Woe unto the fools who look no further when they see an elegant robe! More valuable than the garment is the body which carries it, and more valuable even than that is the soul which animates the body. Fools see only the garment of the Torah, the more intelligent see the body, the wise see the soul, its proper being; and in the Messianic time the 'upper soul' of the Torah will stand revealed.\"
Fools Garden Dish Of The Day Rar
Same for my SO and me. He has a compulsive approach to cooking where he focuses on a dish and cooks the living hell out of it until he masters it/ is satisfied with the outcome. Meanwhile, I cook to decompress after work so enjoy making more complex dishes. But we live in a country where the produce is sub-par, so half the things I want to make come out like.. well you get the picture.
Right, \"it was a lot about Olive Garden\", no dude it was never about Olive Garden and you're still not getting it! It's like that guy who wife left him because he left dishes by the sink, no my dude it was never about the dishes or Olive Garden or any of that it was about respecting her, understanding whats important to her, and treating her every once in a while.
I mentioned this in another reply. My mother said even a sandwich made by someone else tasted better because she didn't have to cook it. And before my parents split, my dad was a pretty progressive guy for his time when it came to cooking, cleaning and child care. He generally made dinner several times a week. Changed diapers, did the dishes and this was back in the 1960s and 1970s.
Part of cooking for someone is showing you how much you care for them, especially things like recreating grandma's dish OP loved. The girlfriend needed some of that too, whether it was OP cooking for her, or taking her somewhere nice on date night. Caregivers can get burnt out if no one's caring for them. Sounds like that is part of what happened here.
Right, \"it was a lot about Olive Garden\", no dude it was never about Olive Garden and you're still not getting it! Same in my family, dad doesn't like to order pizza because homemade is better. But he doesn't realize that whole point of pizza is that you don't need to cook and clean up for the day - would like to add that he never does the dishes or cooking for while family so it's not bothersome to him.
Eh, when I cook I plate the food myself generally. For one thing I know how long I want it to sit after it comes out of the oven, what utensils it would be lifted or spooned out with, and how it should be arranged on or in what dish. I would appreciate help with clearing, cleaning, and setting the table, grocery shopping, cleanup, maybe prep ... there are lots of ways to help.
I have lived in a cold part of Canada for a very long time. Never have I ever seen cockroaches here, but you better believe one of two remaining olive gardens in the city I grew up in was shut down for having cockroaches climbing on the table. Never heard of them occurring anywhere else after, just that cursed olive garden... and there's video too :')
OP, you said you know you were the asshole, but your actions remain the same. What's the point? From now on, you cook. No time limit. Can't cook? Learn. No excuses. No break time. You're going to cook for the family for rest of your life. Everyday, different dishes, no excuses. Don't eat out ever. Feel annoyed just thinking about it? That's what your girlfriend felt.
Yikes. I don't think you are really listening to your girlfriend's needs. 100% it's not about Olive Garden. It's about the fact that you don't know what makes her happy and you taking her to Olive Garden just proves that. You said so yourself that she's a foodie. Usually foodies love trying different restaurants and finding new dishes that they've never tasted.... but man you took her to Olive Garden lolol. I feel like she probably has to tell you what she wants word for word because you're just not attentive enough to know yourself. I also think she might have bottled up a lot of problems with you and the whole olive garden situation was enough for her to realize that you aren't the one for her.
This isn't just about olive garden or cooking/cleaning or date night. It's much more than that. I think if I was your girlfriend I would be thinking something like... \"wow.. if he's this selfish/dense/lacks empathy when it comes to this... what would he be like if something really serious were to happen?\"
My partner is the same as your girlfriend. He can smell and taste a dish and recreate it, and I have affectionately called him my private chef. I also check in with him in case he doesnt want to cook or if he wants to go out to eat.
